One of the two men who Shreveport Police say are responsible for a murder of a pharmaceutical delivery driver in a Walgreens parking lot is under arrest.
Kelvin Lewis, 38, was arrested late last week on an unrelated charge.
“He’s in the custody of Arlington Police in Arlington, Texas,” says Shreveport Police Cpl. Chris Bordelon, “and we are still looking for the other suspect we’ve identified as Larry Lewis.”
Investigators believe it was Kelvin Lewis who fatally shot Billy Jamison, 67, last Wednesday.
They believe the Lewises are related, although they have not established what that relationship is.
The murder has shaken the community to the core.
“Any time you have a violent crime like this where you have a victim, much like we had in this case, who was an upstanding member of our community, it really shocks our community,” says Cpl. Bordelon, “and we’re going to make sure that we hold those individuals who committed this heinous crime responsible.”
Bordelon says Jamison was targeted, possibly because he had medical drugs in his delivery vehicle.
“The victim in this case was the target of these offenders,” Bordelon says. “Obviously, they were attempting to rob him and steal his vehicle.”
Bordelon says this has been a complex case to work on.
“We knew from the beginning this crime probably had multiple persons involved due to the complexity and the part of it being targeted,” says Bordelon. “So we wanted to make sure we hold all those individuals that had any involvement accountable.”
Investigators say Larry Lewis has a long criminal record of drugs and weapons charges with Shreveport Police.
