Louisiana Tech University has partnered with Archem, LLC, a Shreveport-based leader in advanced aerospace fuel solutions, to drive innovation in aerospace engineering. La Tech Chief Innovation Officer Donna Johnson says this collaboration unites academic research, specialized equipment, and industry expertise, offering groundbreaking opportunities for students and faculty.
“Right now we’ve got students on campus that are the hands and feet of Archem, and those students are kind of the ambassadors and are working to get things set up.”
The partnership includes a custom-designed jet engine test platform, developed with Onyx Aerospace, featuring advanced fuel management, data systems, and sensors. Johnson says this facility provides students with hands-on experience with cutting-edge propulsion and fuel technologies.
“It’s what we would term “dual use” which means its good for commercial usage as well as defense purposes, national security purposes.”
Johnson highlighted the initiative’s role in advancing critical aerospace research and preparing students for impactful careers. The collaboration also supports R&D for the U.S. Air Force, evaluating advanced fuels for military and commercial applications. Bottom of Form
