Louisiana State University at Alexandria is ranked #4 in Niche’s 2025 Best Colleges in Louisiana. Chancellor Paul Coreil says this coincides with a record-high Spring semester enrollment of nearly seven-thousand undergraduates, a 28% surge, the highest growth rate among Louisiana universities.
“The quality of education obviously has to be there, because this a multi-year rise in enrollment and student interest in LSU-A,” Coreil said.
He said this is coming at a time when other universities are seeing a decline in enrollment.
Coreil says a significant driver of LSU’s growth is the number of students taking online courses through LSU-A. Nearly 4,000 students, a 46% increase in just one year.
Coreil says more students are choosing LSU-A because they recognize the school is providing high-qualify, affordable education that leads to career opportunities for graduates in central Louisiana.
“Our success is built on continuous innovation, dedicated faculty and staff and a commitment to student excellence. As we grow, we remain focused on ensuring that LSUA remains the best value in higher education,” Coreil said.
Niche’s Best Colleges rankings incorporate rigorous academic, admissions, financial, and student life data. This year, the methodology has adapted to evolving higher education trends, introducing an Economic Mobility Index that assesses the economic advancement opportunities for low-income students while also de-emphasizing standardized test scores in admissions considerations. These updates reflect the shifting priorities of students and universities alike.
