The Louisiana Family Forum (LFF) has named Mr. Ira Milan and Mrs. Margery Milan of New Orleans as Louisiana’s Longest Married Couple for the third straight year, celebrating 83 years of marriage. LFF President Gene Mills says it’s tough staying at the top of the leaderboard.
“Both of these guys are above 100 years old. She’s living in an assisted living facility, but he’s still living independently and until only recently, was driving to and from his home and driving to see her on a daily basis.”
Mills says they will be inducted into LFF’s 2025 Marriage Hall of Fame alongside nine other honored couples.
“It’s tough when you got individuals that have lived since the turn of the century to say you didn’t make the top 10. So, that list continues to grow. It’s a very competitive division.”
Mills praised the couple’s dedication, emphasizing that lifelong marriage remains a source of joy, health, and community strength.
“What we watch and hear are stories that don’t just bring to light history but the principals that make for a successful life, a successful home, and a successful marriage.”
