A Bayou Blue man is accused of sex crimes, including first-degree rape, against several girls.
The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office started investigating a single complaint by the Department of Children and Family Services against Herman Dupre, 60, and they found several additional victims.
“They identified a total of four juvenile victims,” says Capt. Brennan Matherne, “so three in addition to the initial one that was reported by DCFS.”
Capt. Matherne says these assaults had been going on for quite some time.
“The children aged in range of approximately seven years old to 16 years old at the time of the incidents,” says Matherne. “It appears that the cases date back anywhere from the last couple of years to even as far back as 10 years ago.”
Dupre is in the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex, and his bond is set at $525,000.
“He was ultimately charged with several sex crimes, including first-degree rape, molestation of a juvenile, indecent behavior with a juvenile, sexual battery and simple battery,” Matherne says.
Investigators believe there are additional victims.
Anyone who may have come into contact with Dupre should contact the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office’s Criminal Investigations Division at 985-532-4359.
