
An LSU grad from Lafayette who owns an ice cream shop in Portland, Oregon, has been recognized as having the best Vegan Ice cream shop in the United States by Veg News. Kate Williams says it was a surprise and an honor.
“Oh, it was quite an honor.
“I laid on the floor in my office and definitely shed some tears. I was very grateful.”
Williams says they have two stores and plan on hoping to create places for all people who want to taste delicious ice cream.
“A really good ice create that tasted really good. Because sometimes you know the alternatives are not as good. So, my goal, I grew up eating dairy ice cream and I knew exactly what it was supposed to taste like.”
Williams says all her ice cream is vegan, made with coconut milk, and all made in-house. The big question is how does it taste?
“So many people cannot tell the difference. It’s fantastic. We’ve been in business for six years. I like to think I grew up with a pretty good ice cream pallet. Thank you, Louisiana for all that flavor.”
