Baton Rouge Police have made an arrest in the fatal shooting of a hospital worker who was gunned down after leaving work. Lt. L’Jean McKneely says 60-year-old Roland Domino shot 58-year-old Patricia Jackson in the parking lot outside of Our Lady of the Lake Hospital yesterday afternoon. McKneely says this is a domestic violence incident.
“The pair had recently gotten back together. A verbal altercation argument occurred in the parking lot. During the course of that verbal argument, Domino shot Jackson,” McKneely said.
McKneely says officers arrested Domino on the Mississippi River Bridge as he was contemplating suicide.
“We received a call, a dispatch call, relative to someone walking on the Mississippi River Bridge with a handgun. Uniformed officers responded to the Mississippi River Bridge, and were able to apprehend Mr. Domino,” McKneely explained.
Domino has a criminal arrest history of forgery, simple burglary, aggravated assault, simple battery and aggravated assault. Jackson died at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital despite the best efforts of emergency room doctors. President of Our Lady of the Lake, Chuck Spicer, is heartbroken by this terrible act of violence.
“Thanks to the first responders, our security team, that acted quickly. Give us some time to heal and grieve and thank you again to the police for being here,” Spicer said.
