A St. Tammany Parish school teacher was arrested for allegedly paying students to send him sexually explicit photos.
“We were notified (last October) that a Jarvis Harry, who’s a teacher at a Mandeville-area high school, was reportedly paying students to send him pictures of their feet,” says STPSO Lt. Suzanne Carboni.
Harry was on leave from his teaching position at the time detectives received the report.
He was located last week in Tangipahoa Parish where he was taken into custody.
“He was taken into custody there, and he was booked as a fugitive,” says Lt. Carboni. “He got transported and booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center earlier this week.”
Carboni says detectives found even more sexually disturbing images in Harry’s possession.
“They went through hundreds of documents, social media accounts, a lot of phone records (and) conducted numerous interviews, and they found out that not only was he paying students for pictures of their feet, he had also obtained other sexually-explicit videos and pictures of students,” Carboni says.
Harry was arrested last week on 142 counts of pornography including juvenile, 60 counts of computer-aided solicitation involving a minor, and 120 counts of prohibited sexual contact of an educator with a student.
Carboni says the detective has identified some students in the photos, but there are other photos that they have not been able to identify the students
“So they’re asking for anybody who believes them, or a parent can talk to their children if they believe they had sent photos to Harry, and they’re asked to contact us at the usual (985) 898-2338 number,” says Carboni.
