Authorities announce a major drug bust in Ruston.
They have announced the indictment of 14 people who they say took part in a plot to distribute methamphetamine.
Investigators say it took place for almost three full years, from January of 2022 through November of last year.
“While the indictment primarily focuses on drug trafficking in Ruston, the methamphetamine came from outside the state,” says Alexander Van Hook, acting U.S. attorney for the Western District of Louisiana. “It was brought in through Mexico, which is a problem where most of the drugs, including fentanyl and methamphetamine, come through Mexico. And members of this conspiracy have ties to California, Texas, Kansas and Louisiana.”
Twelve of the 14 suspects have been identified. They are: (All are from Ruston, except where indicated)
- Cornelius Boston, 44
- Shedrick Green, III, 40
- Ferrano Barnes, 54, Lodi, Calif.
- Marcus Gray, 41, Salina, Kan.
- Landon Askins, 42
- Brodrick Graham, 31
- Kimoni McMurray, 46
- Jakevdrick Carter, 34
- Ladavid Hunter, 37, Jonesboro
- Jason Teddy Potts, 46
- Roy Lee Williams, 40
- Tangua Raybon, 56, Winnfield
All are charged with conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine.
Boston, Green and Williams are also charged with possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine; and Boston is also charged with possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking and possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon.
Raybon is also charged with interstate travel in aid of racketeering.
“The defendants face a minimum of ten years up to life in prison,” says Van Hook.
“This case was brought as part of Operation Take Back America, which is a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice and our law enforcement partners to repel the invasion of illegal immigrants, achieve the total elimination of drug cartels operating in the United States, and protect our communities from violent crime, including firearm violence and drug trafficking,” Van Hook continued.
