Crawfish prices have dropped 25 cents, hitting a new low for 2025. According to the Crawfish App, live crawfish are averaging $3.64 a pound, when it comes to boiled crawfish, you can expect to pay a little more than six-dollars a pound. Prices are dropping, because supply is up.
“Late last week into this week its looking like the catch is coming up, it’s looking a little more promising,” Evangeline Parish crawfish farmer Jonathan Fontenot said.
Crawfish App co-founder Laney King says the start of April marks the historical true start of the heart of crawfish season, and she expects prices will continue to decline as we approach Easter weekend. Fontenot says 2025 looks like a good crawfish season.
“We have some fields that are catching a lot of pounds per acre, some of them are not doing so hot, but if you average it all up at the end of the day, I’m happy with what we are seeing so far,” Fontenot said.
