The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office has taken down a street gang — but this one is a little out of the ordinary.
Deputies arrested seven members of the Motion Gang on various charges, including attempted first-degree murder, drug possession and weapons charges.
Sheriff Jason Ard says this gang is known as a “hybrid gang,” which is a bit more disorganized than a typical street gang.
“They don’t really have an authority or a supervisor,” says Sheriff Ard. “They’re all like the same-level person. They do intermingle with other gangs, but they don’t really have any organization, they don’t have any rules or regulations.”
LPSO says hybrid gang members typically engage in narcotics distribution and street violence consisting of both adults and juveniles.
On March 21st, the Bogalusa Police Dept. asked the LPSO for its help in finding Ivan Fletcher, 19, in connection with a shooting in that city, in which Fletcher fired into a vehicle with five people inside, including possibly a five-month-old baby.
Bogalusa Police say Fletcher and his girlfriend, Maya Price, 23, went into the city to engage in a fistfight.
Both Fletcher and Price are members of the Motion Gang, and LPSO deputies arrested them on March 24th.
Fletcher’s vehicle was towed back to Livingston; and upon obtaining a search warrant, agents found:
- About 180 grams of marijuana
- About 4 dosage units of oxycodone
- About 2 dosage units of pressed fentanyl pills
- About 30 fl. oz. of promethazine
- 2 THC vape carts
- 3 handguns
- 2, 22 caliber rifles
- 1, 7.62 caliber AR style pistol, which had been reported stolen
- $4,561, pending seizure
Along with Fletcher and Price, LPSO agents arrested five additional people:
- Terry Finley, 20
- Dennis Mitchell, 19
- Alyssa Theodore, 18
- Two juveniles

Sheriff Ard says gang activity can happen anywhere, and his deputies are working diligently to rid the parish of it.
“We don’t like it,” says Ard. “We’re not going to tolerate it. And so we’re going to do the best job we can to be aggressive towards gang activity. Any type of gang activity, you can believe that we’re going be knocking on that door sooner than later.”
Ard says more arrests will likely be forthcoming stemming from this investigation.
“There’s probably likely more people to be arrested once we go through all the evidence and as we investigate these types of crimes, normally we usually make other arrests down the road,” Ard says.
