A warrant has been issued for a Slidell man after investigators say he forced his way into a home and assaulted a woman. Lieutenant Suzanne Carboni says St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s deputies responded to the home U-S Highway 190 East, learning that 52-year-old Tyrone Mercadel had kicked in the door and attacked the woman.
“The two homeowners were attempting to get him out of the residence and push him back out the door, and he was actively fighting them.”
Carboni says in self-defense, the woman fired two shots, hitting Mercadel in the leg.
“He fled the residence, but the husband, Wayne Mercadal, attempted to help, he said, by trying to prevent Tyrone from leaving. He fired upon his vehicle, attempting to shoot out his tires.”
Authorities later located Tyrone Mercadel and transported him to a hospital. Carboni says once released, he will be arrested for aggravated battery.
“The husband, Wayne, was also taken into custody and he was booked Monday night into our jail for aggravated criminal damage to property for the damage he caused when he fired upon the vehicle.”
