A man wanted for allegedly killing his parents was caught in California.
Joshua Brocato, 34, was arrested in Los Angeles after he allegedly killed Marc Brocato, 75, and his wife Priscilla, 66, inside their Amite-area home last week.
Police were tracking Brocato after he fled the scene.
“We had information that he was headed that way, as well as license plate recognition cameras tracking his movements,” says Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Gerald Sticker.
“His vehicle was put into the National Crime Information Computer — the NCIC as it’s called,” Sheriff Sticker continued. “And so everywhere that license plate would have hit, we were able to track it. Local authorities were able to locate that vehicle based on the information that was put in the computer.”
Sticker says when Joshua Brocato was arrested on Friday, he had three guns on him and he was wearing military style attire.
“We’re fortunate that no other innocent people were harmed,” Sticker says; “and ultimately, from what I understand, he was taken into custody without incident.”
Brocato is facing two counts of first-degree murder in Louisiana.
Sticker says the couple’s deaths have sparked a lot of sorrow throughout the community.
“The victims were great people, church-going people, volunteers in the community,” says Sticker. “Mr. Marc volunteered at the local Amite Oyster Festival for the last several years.”
Sticker says they do not know why Joshua killed his parents or why he fled to Los Angeles.
