With the tax deadline approaching tomorrow, CPA Jerry Schriber has some tips to help with last-minute filing concerns. Schreiber, a partner at Schreiber & Schreiber, says get organized.
“So, what that means is that you should get all your items of income in one place and get all your deductions in one place to easily facilitate the preparation of the return.”
Schriber says there are several options to file online, like free file on the IRS website and other commercial filing software…
“And of course, if you want to use an outside tax preparation service, a CPA, then that would be recommended also depending on the complexity of the return.”
With the deadline to file by midnight tomorrow, Schriber urges those who need more time to file for an extension, or they could get penalized.
“If you cannot get your act together, then you have to file an extension. It’s a very important procedural item that if you don’t file an extension, you could be subject to penalties and interest.”
