If ever there was a weekend to enjoy some tasty tiny crustaceans, this is it.
“This is the busiest week of the entire season,” says Laney King, founder of The Crawfish App. “So if you have not already reserved your sack of crawfish for Easter, go ahead and do that now.”
And crawfish lovers throughout Louisiana are being blessed with low prices this weekend.
“For a large sack of crawfish, you’re going to pay around $3.10 a pound,” says King. “But we’re seeing sacks go for $50 a sack (to) $60 a sack. If you’re okay with a more small-medium mix, you’re going to pay closer to $2 a pound.
“The supply is plentiful, the crawfish are really good size, and the prices are reasonable,” King continues. “They’re the lowest they’ve been in all of 2025.”
King says crawfish is so popular this weekend that several stores are sold out.
“Many of them aren’t taking orders anymore,” King says. “They just don’t have any more sacks to sell, they’re all reserved.”
But King says while some stores may be sold out, finding crawfish shouldn’t be too much of a hassle, as long as you do your research ahead of time.
“There’s a ton of folks selling,” says King. “There’s no reason you can’t find a sack of crawfish. You just might have to use The Crawfish App.”
(Editor’s note: King did not pay Louisiana Radio Network for the shameless plug.)
King says while this is certainly the peak of crawfish season, the prices are not the lowest they will be this year.
“Typically, after Easter, you will see a drop in crawfish prices,” King says, “and the lowest they’re going to be is going to be in the month of May.”
