Five-star University Lab lineman Lamar Brown announced his commitment to LSU on ESPN2 today. With his Cubs teammates behind him in front of a packed U High gym, ESPN’s top overall recruit put on the purple LSU cap and revealed a gold Tigers baseball jersey.
“Hard choice, but I’ve decided to do it. With that being said, for the next three to four years I’ll be committing to Louisiana State University,” said Brown.”
The Baton Rouge native chose the Tigers over Texas, Texas A&M and Miami, and it was reportedly a tight race between the Aggies and Tigers. Brown even canceled his official LSU visit after a trip to College Station, but he said his Baton Rouge roots run deep.
“It always started off with Coach Kelly ninth-grade year. Eighth or ninth grade year, that was my first offer. He always believed in me. Just the culture here, playing for Baton Rouge, playing for he state of Louisiana, it means a lot,” said Brown
Brown is ranked as the number one athlete in the country and is highly touted as both an offensive and defensive lineman. Brown, though, told schools he’d rather get after the quarterback than protect him.
“I like the offensive line too, but I feel like to get to the next level for developing and everything, just taking it to the next level for defensive line,” said Brown.
Brown is the third five-star commit in LSU’s 2026 class On3 now ranks the fifth in the nation.
