Texas and Georgia faced off in the SEC Championship game last year, and according to the media, we can expect a rematch in Atlanta at the end of the 2025 regular season.
The Longhorns have been selected to win the 2025 SEC Championship, and Georgia has been chosen to finish as the runner-up.
Arch Manning is Texas’s starting quarterback, and he has a stellar group of receivers around him. The Longhorns’ defense is also expected to be salty.
Georgia lost twice in the regular season last year, falling to Alabama and Ole Miss on the road. This year, the Crimson Tide and Rebels visit Athens, and the Bulldogs also host Texas. Georgia also has four players on the All-SEC first team. The Bulldogs are also expected to be excellent at special teams, as their punter, kicker and return men all made the first team.
LSU is certainly an SEC title contender, but the media who attended SEC Media Days have Alabama finishing third ahead of LSU, which was selected to finish in fourth place.
The Crimson Tide are expected to be improved in Kalen DeBoer’s second season. The offensive line could be good, led by Kadyn Proctor, and Ryan Williams is a dynamic receiver. According to Pro Football Focus, Alabama is the only team in college football with a top 10 player at every defensive position.
LSU was picked to finish fourth. The Tigers had one player earn All-SEC first-team honors, linebacker Whit Weeks.
Despite throwing for over 4,000 yards last season, Garrett Nussmeier was an All-SEC second-team selection behind South Carolina’s LaNorris Sellers. The Gamecocks will be in Tiger Stadium on October 11th.
LSU linebacker Harold Perkins, running back Caden Durham, and receiver Aaron Anderson were also second-team selections. Zavion Thomas is also a second-team selection as an All-Purpose player.
