President Trump recently called on National Guard Troops to help fight crime in Washington D.C. During a meeting in the Oval Office on Wednesday, he said he was considering doing the same in other cities, including one of our own.
“Or do we go to a place like New Orleans where we have a great governor, Jeff Landry, who wants us to come in and straighten out a very nice section of this country,” Trump said.
In 2025, New Orleans saw lower crime rates than the previous year. According to the Metropolitan Crime Commission, shootings, homicides, carjackings and armed robbery are all down. The president says crime in New Orleans can be taken care of very quickly.
“And you have New Orleans, which has a crime problem. We’ll straighten that out in about two weeks. It’ll take us two weeks. Easier than D.C.,” Trump noted.
