Getting the gas gauge to “full” is less likely to leave your bank account “empty.” The statewide average for a gallon of regular unleaded is $2.62. That’s down six cents from a week ago. Nick Chabarria with AAA says this is the time of year when we typically see gas prices start to come down.
“Fuel prices start to decline, largely due to seasonal turnover from summer blend to winter blend gasoline,” Chabarria said.
Chabarria says gas prices have remained relatively low this year – not just in Louisiana but all across the country.
“Crude oil has remained in check this year, and that’s largely contributed to lower prices compared to year over year,” Chabarria noted.
Chabarria says gas prices may not be done dropping.
“As soon as crude oil stays in check, gas prices, at least for the foreseeable future, the next week or so, could contain t0 decline for drivers,” Chabarria said.
Louisiana’s statewide average is currently the sixth lowest in the country.
