The Louisiana Policy Institute for Children is calling on parents that have kids involved in early childhood education to take their parent poll. LPIC’s chief executive officer, Dr. Libbie Sonnier, says the survey highlights key issues, including the rising cost of childcare.
“The affordability is what they are worried about, as their young child is learning and changing, growing. What are the things that they are facing to be able to invest in early childhood education?” Sonnier asked.
The survey takes about 10 to 15 minutes to complete, and it can be found at policyinstitutela.org.
Sonnier says each response helps depict a clear picture of what’s working and where families still need more support.
“We hear oftentimes from our elected officials that they want Louisiana data, and they want to hear from Louisiana parents. And this is one way that Louisiana parents can have their voices be heard,” Sonnier said.
LPIC has conducted this survey since 2020, and the information gathered is used to inform policymakers about the most pressing needs and challenges facing families with young children.
“This allows us to give voice to the parents of Louisiana, so their elected officials can say, ‘Hey, look, you from Southeast, Northwest, Northeast, Central Louisiana, these are what your parents and your districts are telling us.’ And it really makes a big impact,” Sonnier said.
