According to the RV Industry Association, RV sales are up by as much as 170 percent compared to this time last year. Operational Manager for RV Masters in Kenner Jeff Charrier says the allure of an RV is clear right now.
“It is your space, it is your germs, and once you clean it one time you are good to go. It is not like a hotel room or an airplane where once you leave that space there is no telling who is in there,” said Charrier.
RV Masters does repair and service work for RVs.
It’s not just new customers that are taking renewed interest in RVs, Charrier says when the pandemic first started they received a wave of return customers.
“Some people were coming to us because they had a family member in the medical field and they were loaning it to them or it was one of their immediate family. They were going to stay in it because they did not want to be around their family while they were at work with the COVID,” said Charrier.
Charrier has some advice for anyone interested in buying an RV for the first time: inspect it front to back before you hand over your credit card, and pay close attention to the wear and tear on the wheels and dry rot around the edges because blow outs are costly.
Charrier says RV Masters does pre-purchase inspections.
