Senator John Kennedy says George Floyd was a victim of murder at the hands of Minneapolis Police but condemns the nationwide rioting and looting in response. Kennedy says the video evidence paints a clear picture.
“I believe Officer Chauvin murdered Mr. Floyd. I believe the cops that stood there and watched Officer Chauvin do it and didn’t intervene are also culpable,” said Kennedy.
Kennedy says he’s all for peaceful demonstrations, but targeting law enforcement officers with violence and aggression is wrong.
“Hating cops just because they are cops is as bad as racially profiling. I believe that legal, peaceful demonstrations are as American as baseball,” said Kennedy.
Kennedy believes in Louisiana, demonstrations have gone smoothly but encourages other parts of the country that are seeing an unlawful backlash to activate the National Guard.
“I want to thank the people of Louisiana for protesting lawfully and peacefully, but I’m very worried in New York. I’m worried about the peaceful protestors, I’m worried about the cops, I’m worried about the business owners,” said Kennedy.
