Anthony Davis spoke to reporters today on his trade aspirations to leave the Pelicans in favor of playing for a team with the ability to win more consistently. Davis said he feels that it’s just the right time to leave the Big Easy.
“I gave the city, the organization, the fans, everything I could. I don’t know how long I’m going to play this game,” said Davis.
Davis said he’s working to get his finger healthy, which has kept him benched recently. He said the conversation about leaving the organization was a tough one to have.
“I feel like I’m in my prime right now, playing at an elite level, and I want to make sure I take advantage of that,” said Davis.
Davis said when he’s healthy, he’s still ready to suit up for the Pelicans and will continue on in a professional manner.
“I’m still under contract here and I’ll still come with you guys to practice, sitting on the bench, in the locker room. Like I said, I’m still under contract until I get traded,” said Davis.
