It will be a hot weekend as heat index values will reach 110, maybe even 115 degrees. State Climatologist Barry Keim says a high pressure system in the northern Gulf of Mexico will limit cloudiness and thunderstorms.
“And the fact this high pressure is situated over the Gulf of Mexico it’s transporting this air off the Gulf on southerly and southwesternly winds, giving us lots sun and lots of humidity,” said Keim.
This stretch of hot weather will continue into early next week and Keim says it will be quite warm for outdoor activities in the morning.
“Even getting out early, you are not really going to be beating the heat in any significant way, even the minimum temperatures are going to be well above normal, they are going to be in the upper 70s near 80, instead of the low 70s,” said Keim.
Keim says rain chances are also ow this weekend.
“Don’t expect a lot of clouds, don’t expect any thunder showers, if you get one, consider yourself lucky,” said Keim.
