Governor Edwards expresses concern over the upcoming flu season. Edwards says the message is clear about the flu vaccine this year.
“We are asking people to make sure you get your flu shots this year whether you have in years past or not,” said Edwards.
Edwards says the combination of having spikes in both COVID and flu cases at the same time could be detrimental to medical facility capabilities.
“These are both conditions that cause respiratory problems, so you put demand on the same part of your healthcare delivery system,” said Edwards.
Edwards says this year’s vaccination is not yet available, but when it is, you’ll hear about it.
“They will be in a few weeks and we’re going to have an extensive campaign to try to get people to get the flu shot this year,” said Edwards.
