Entergy is finalizing plans to respond to power outages from Hurricane Laura. The power company has strategically placed crews and equipment and will begin restoration work as soon as the storm passes.
“This team is going to come from over 20 states across the U.S., we have amassed a team of currently 9,000 people coming into help, nearly 6,000 of those will be in Louisiana,” said Entergy CEO and President Phillip May.
May says the outages will not be limited to just southwest Louisiana. He says Laura is expected to damage power lines across a large portion of the state.
“So customers who may not be on the coast, may need to plan for extended outages, because of the size and intensity of this storm,” said May.
May says if you are worried about the food in your refrigerator, there are settings you can change on that appliance that will help before the power goes out.
“Set your freezer at the coldest setting, in the event you have a power outage it will help keep your food and so forth colder,” said May.
