
Hurricane Delta made landfall just 40 miles south of Lake Charles in the small community of Creole around 6 PM Friday as a category two hurricane but quickly collapsed into a category one with a poorly defined eyewall as it made its way northeast out of Cameron Parish.

A large chunk of southwest Louisiana is currently under a flash flood emergency warning and residents in the area are being implored to seek higher ground as higher than expected rainfall is swamping the region. That warning is in effect until 1 AM Saturday morning.
Most of the state is expected to either experience or be actively experiencing at least tropical-storm-force winds between now and 12 PM.
