Saints Quarterback Drew Brees left Sunday’s game against San Francisco with an injury and did not return. It is being reported that Brees has multiple rib fractures and a collapsed lung. Brees was replaced by Jameis Winston, who will compete with Taysom Hill for the starting job if Brees misses time.
Coach Sean Payton is comfortable with both players.
“Both he and Taysom have a good feel of what we’re trying to do, they’ve picked things up and I think it’s a good room,” said Payton.
If you’re looking for the Saints to name a starting quarterback soon, you’re out of luck, because Payton says he won’t name a starter until later in the week.
“None of it benefits us by announcing that player earlier than later.”
The Saints will host the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.
