Early voting is underway for the December fifth runoff. We saw long lines during early voting for the November election, but based on the first day of this early voting period, the lines will be much shorter. Secretary of State Kyle Ardoin still encourages all registered voters to cast a ballot.
“Every election is important so we hope that voters will decide to go to the polls for the runoff election,” said Ardoin.
Early voting will run from 8:30 AM to 6 PM through November 28th, except for Sunday (Nov 22nd), Thursday (Nov 26), and Friday (Nov 27) of next week. The biggest item on the ballot is the fifth district Congressional run-off between two Republicans, Lance Harris and Luke Letlow. Ardoin says voters in 24 parishes will see that race on their ballot.
“It’s important to make sure that folks vote for that because that’s their representation in Washington,” said Ardoin.
Several judicial races are in a run-off. East Baton Rouge is selecting a new mayor-president, while Orleans’ voters have to choose a new district attorney. There’s also a Public Service Commission race in southeast Louisiana. Ardoin says a sample ballot is located inside the Geaux Vote Mobile App.
“And also we have the GeauxBot, which is an artificial intelligence that will answer anybody’s question 24/7 in our votar portal at geauxvote.com,” said Ardoin.
