New Iberia City Marshal 67-year-old Haywood Migues has been arrested for allegedly falsifying subpoena signatures.
State Police Trooper Thomas Gossen said the investigation began last month.
“Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations received information about multiple signatures that had been forged by court officials and so they contacted state police and through the investigation, they discovered Migues did in fact forge these signatures,” said Gossen.
Migues was booked into the Iberia Parish Jail without incident yesterday on eight charges of forgery, injuring public records, and malfeasance.
Gossen said Migues forged signatures showing individuals had been served a subpoena in lieu of making personal service.
“When you are personally served a subpoena you sign that subpoena saying that you have been served. He was falsifying these signatures saying that people had been served when in fact they had not,” said Migues.
The investigation is ongoing and no further information is available at this time.
