A 56-year-old Bossier Parish Sheriff’s deputy is recovering after being allegedly shot multiple times by his daughter in Benton Monday night. Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson Bill Davis said they were called to Burt Wich’s home in Benton around 5 pm.
“Had to Life Air him out to the hospital having found out he was shot multiple times, in this case by his estranged daughter. She was apprehended and we interviewed her and subsequently charged her with attempted first-degree murder,” said Davis.
22-year-old Kalee Wich is being held at the Bossier Maximum-Security Facility in Plain Dealing.
Davis said Deputy Wich, who lives alone was getting ready to go assist a friend with storm damage when his daughter Kalee arrived.
“Exactly why she did this, what’s the motive, for a 22-year-old daughter to take a gun and shoot her dad multiple times is bewildering at the least,” said Davis.
Davis said Deputy Wich is in stable condition at Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport and was up walking around this morning after being shot multiple times.
“Just a very unfortunate situation, but the good news is he’s doing much better at this point and we’re praying for good quick recovery and getting him back to work,” said Davis.
Davis said the gun used in the shooting was not the deputy’s service revolver. The investigation is ongoing.
