The attorney for former LSU football coach Les Miles calls Kansas’s decision to place Miles on administrative leave unfair. K-U made this move after reports that Miles acted inappropriately with female student workers while at LSU. Legal analyst Tim Meche says Miles’ attorney is upset because a Husch Blackwell investigation never spoke with Miles or other key witnesses.
“If that’s the case, there’s really no due process anymore, you’re almost presumed guilty before they do the investigation, but unfortunately that’s the climate we are in right now,” said Meche.
Attorney Peter Ginsberg says when LSU investigated Miles in 2013 they found no evidence he kissed a student worker or offered to take her to a hotel. Meche says Miles’s 3-18 record at Kansas is likely a factor in being placed on administrative leave.
“I don’t know that they would have done this however, in the middle of a football season, especially if they were having a winning record,” said Meche.
Kansas says they want to use this time to review two reports that investigated the allegations. Meche wonders if K-U officials will use this opportunity to fire Miles.
“Cause of his failure to win any games, they might be looking to get rid of him, without having to pay his buyout,” said Meche.
Miles would reportedly be owed eight million dollars if he’s fired without cause.
