A suspected road rage incident in Jefferson Parish on LA 18 claimed the lives of three people Saturday, including an 11-year-old.
Trooper Monroe Dillon said the incident began when 49-year-old Paul Ferrara of New Orleans attempted to pass another driver in an F-150 in a no-pass zone during inclement weather. He was unable to pass, and later down the road…
“His attitude was heated and that is when he pulled alongside the driver of the F-150 and apparently they had some kinds of words and aggressive gestures were exchanged,” said Dillon.
Dillon said after the exchange Ferrara rammed the F-150 causing his Durango to spin out of control into oncoming traffic. Ferrara’s Durango then impacted a Hyundai Elantra, killing both him and the Elantra’s occupants, 31-year-old Raish-Nia Wright of Tennessee and 11-year-old Dezerra Wright of Tennesee. The driver of the F-150 that was initially struck by Ferrara was uninjured.
“This is a tragic situation and it could have 100 percent been avoided if cooler heads had prevailed,” said Dillon.
