The 10th ranked LSU Tigers are one win away from at least a share of an SEC Championship after beating Florida 79-78 in overtime on Wednesday night in Gainesville.
The win gives LSU an undefeated record on the road in the SEC.
It’s the seventh time LSU has played an overtime contest and they are 5-and-2 in those games. And it was another come from behind victory for LSU as they were down by eight with just over six minutes left.
Tremont Waters had 19 points to lead the way. His coast-to-coast game tying lay-up tied the game at the buzzer to send the game into overtime. Waters also had six assists and three steals. The sophomore’s minutes restriction was lifted as he’s back after missing two games because of an illness.
Freshmen Javonte Smart had 15 points, while Emmit Williams added 13 points.
LSU can clinch the number one seed in the SEC Tournament with a win in the regular season finale on Saturday when they host Vanderbilt.
