If you’re having a hard time, finding fireworks for the 4th of July, you aren’t alone. There’s a nationwide shortage of firecrackers and Regional Manager for Little Dixie Fireworks Ashley Routon said it started with factories being shut down in China during the pandemic.
“But then it trickled down with the ports being closed and just getting the fireworks over here, so it’s multiple things that have caused the shortage, not just one,” said Routon.
Routon said several of the small fireworks vendors that purchase their stock from larger importers are having a difficult time receiving products this year, so it depends on where you purchase your explosives if they will have a large selection or not this year.
“But I do know that there are several wholesale buyers that are planning on opening less tent locations for themselves because they just don’t have the product to fill them,” said Routon.
Routon said of course gatherings of family and friends will be more plentiful compared to last year as health restrictions have eased. She’s finding there’s a higher demand for fireworks as people want to mark the occasion.
“I am finding that the general public is very excited about being able to celebrate the 4th of July this year,” said Routon.
Routon said they are anticipating several of their locations selling out this year, possibly even before the 4th.
