Effective Monday if you have to visit an Office of Motor Vehicles in Louisiana you will be required to wear a face mask to conduct business. OMV spokesperson Matthew Boudreaux said the ongoing surge in cases prompted them to return the use of face coverings once again.
“We have to do what we can to keep the public safe that’s our priority. So we are going to ask customers who come to OMV locations to wear a mask,” said Boudreaux.
Boudreaux said most OMV locations offer appointments, so before you have to visit an office check online. He said the appointment system allows visitors to get in and out in a more efficient manner.
“Wear they can put the mask on, we can provide them with the service they need and we can get them out quickly. It’s not a burden for them, we can get them in and out quickly and they can leave and take the mask off,” said Boudreaux.
There are also a number of things you can do online, so Boudreaux said check ahead because you might be able to save yourself a trip.
“We have a ton of online services there, renew your license if you’re eligible, apply for a duplicate license, we do vehicle registrations online. Also, the LA Wallet app is free,” said Boudreaux.
To check ahead for appointments and to see if you can handle your needs online instead of visiting in person go to expresslane.org.
