Entergy believes much of metro New Orleans will see power return by Wednesday. Entergy CEO Phillip May says they are still working on developing restoration estimates for the River Parishes along with Terrebonne, Lafourche, and lower Jefferson Parish.
“Specific restoration times down to the local areas, including coast areas and immediate path of the storm are continued to being developed and will be released in the coming days,” said May.
At its peak, Entergy had 950,000 customers without power. That number is down to 699,000. Entergy’s vice president of distribution operations, John Hawkins, says the damage done to their system is enormous.
“We’ve had 14,364 poles thus far found damaged, which is now higher than what we experienced in Laura, which again highlights the impact of this storm,” said Hawkins.
Mays the restoration process is complex but they expect to make a lot of progress this weekend.
“We have 79 of 197 impacted substations across Louisiana that are ready to serve customers once other necessary repairs have been made,” said May.
