Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser
Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser is putting out a call for volunteers or donations to assist with storm recovery efforts related to Hurricane Ida. He’s the leader of Volunteer Louisiana. We’re starting off feeding people. We’re working with the faith-based community and a lot of the food banks to make sure we’re filling those gaps of people in need through this time.”
Nungesser says the program will help a lot of people in need, especially the uninsured. He says, “you know someone that may not had flood insurance and may not be covered, and mucking and gutting the homes, we provide that kind of service.”
Financial donations are important to the effort of maintaining a long-term recovery effort that Hurricane Ida has thrust upon southeast Louisiana. Nungesser says “we can surely use the help, and then those donations go actually to those people in need through those organizations buying material and supplies to help those people out.”
If you’d like to help out with donations visit https://volunteerlouisiana.gov.donate or to volunteer your time visit www.volunteerlouisiana.gov/disaster-services. Volunteer Louisiana is asking that volunteers do not self-deploy but wait until they are contacted by the organization’s office.
