More information is being released about a deadly officer-involved shooting in Houma late Monday afternoon. Investigators with the Louisiana State Police now say that 36-year-old Johnny Magee of Houma was shot by an officer at the scene after city police responded to a report of a disturbance on Downtown Court.
As an officer arrived on the scene, Magee was holding a screwdriver. Trooper Ross Brennan says the officer tried to create distance between him and Magee, but Magee kept approaching with the screwdriver raised in-hand and was subsequently shot by an officer on the scene.
Magee died of his injuries at the hospital. No officers were injured.
The investigation into the shooting continues.
