Louisiana Radio Network is mourning the death of James Gilmore who died Wednesday morning in Baton Rouge after a long bout with cancer. He was 51.
Gilmore served five years as the Affiliate Relations Director at Lousiana Radio Network. He also produced the Jim Engster Show for three years and assisted LRN Ag Director Don Molino before leaving the company in 2009.
James was a dedicated employee and well-liked by his co-workers. He always had a positive attitude and a willingness to help out in any way.
Gilmore was a popular on-air personality on the Tiger 100.7 in Baton Rouge following his time at LRN.
Gilmore began his broadcast career in Columbus Georgia back in 1990 on the Top 40 Station WCGQ. He worked for several stations in that market through the 90s, doing Top 40, Country, and Rock. James later became Operations Manager for a Rock/Sports cluster in Alabama.
Earlier this year, James was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters.
In 2016, James was diagnosed with a form of kidney cancer. He worked very closely with the American Cancer Society and in 2017 took part in the Real Men Wear Pink Fundraising Campaign where he helped raise thousands of dollars for the local chapter of Susan G Komen.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Gilmore’s two children, Ruston and Madison.
