LSU President Dr. William Tate says no one at the university knew of any prior sexual misconduct allegations against running backs coach Frank Wilson. Former LSU associate athletic director Sharon Lewis claims Wilson exposed himself to her several years ago. The allegations are part of a federal lawsuit against the school.
Tate was a guest today at the Baton Rouge Press Club and was asked about the accusations made against Wilson.
“I’m not aware of any prior allegations against Coach Frank Wilson and there is no evidence of any kind that I’ve seen that such allegations have been reported to LSU officials,” said Tate.
According to a court filing made by Lewis’ attorney last week, Wilson exposed himself to Lewis in 2015 and she reported the incident to LSU athletic administrators Miriam Segar and Verge Ausberry.
Wilson was recently re-hired by LSU and Tate says he’s never talked to Wilson about the allegations because this is the first time his office has known about them.
‘None of the allegations that I’ve seen have been shared even in a highly visible independent Title IX review that LSU initiated last year,” said Tate.
Tate is referring to the Husch Blackwell report that reported numerous incidents of how LSU failed to properly respond to allegations of sexual misconduct involving former LSU Coach Les Miles and ex-football players.
Here is the response from Sharon Lewis’ legal team:
Dr. Tate has chosen to align himself with Verge Ausberry and Miriam Segar, who were both
suspended for subverting and lying about Title IX complaints in the Athletic Department over
the word of three victims who accused Frank Wilson of Sexual Assault and Harassment in the
USA Today story “Rehired LSU Coach named in suit.” Sharon Lewis is confident the facts at
trial will show Frank Wilson sexually assaulted her and others and that LSU, as part of its
capture and kill scheme, concealed Ms. Lewis’ Title IX complaints against Frank Wilson, Les
Miles and others.
