Caddo Parish Sheriffs arrested Oil City Police officer William Fitzpatrick on Sunday, after receiving a complaint that he allegedly entered the home of a woman without permission. Here’s CPSO spokesperson Bia Roldan…
“Officer William Fitzpatrick had entered an apartment of a woman without asking for permission,” she said. “The victim was awoken by him when he inappropriately touched her.”
Fitzpatrick, 39, was arrested and booked into the Caddo Correctional Center on charges of unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling and misdemeanor sexual battery. Roldan says there is no evidence at this time of any relationship between Fitzpatrick and the victim.
“I believe they were just acquaintances,” said Roldan. “There wasn’t anything long-term or established like that.”
Disturbingly, Roldan says this isn’t Officer Fitzpatrick’s first brush with the wrong side of the law. Fitzpatrick had multiple prior arrests dating back to 2009 for various offenses.
“Three previous arrests,” added Roldan. “Once in 2009 for forgery, 2011 again for forgery and issuing worthless checks, and in 2013 it appears he was charged with simple battery.”
If convicted, Fitzpatrick faces up to a $1000 fine and up to six months in prison on the misdemeanor sexual battery charge, and another $1000 and up to six years behind bars for unauthorized entry.
