Two brothers are behind bars after a weekend shooting that left two victims dead in Lafourche Parish. Sheriff’s Detectives arrested 34-year-old Kerry Alexander and 28-year-old Jerrell Alexander, both of Raceland, on Saturday night. Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Lt. Brennan Matherne said the suspects entered the garage wearing all black clothing and camouflage masks.
“At face value, it appears that this was a robbery that quickly went south where one of the individuals opened fire on the victims,” said Matherne.
A third man was also found at the residence but was not harmed.
Matherne said during the course of the investigation, the Alexander brothers were developed as suspects. Detectives learned they were in the Boutte area.
“We worked with the Sheriff’s Office there to locate them at a local restaurant there where we took them into custody,” said Matherne.
They were found wearing all black clothing and a bag was found outside the restaurant containing two handguns and camouflage masks.
Matherne says both brothers had extensive criminal histories. They are now being held at the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux.
“Both of them were booked with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted first-degree murder and their bonds are set at $1.25 million each,” said Matherne.
The victims were identified 26-year-old Marcel Turner of Thibodaux, who died at the scene, and 23-year-old Jeremiah Ballard of Raceland, who died as a result of his injuries at a hospital. A identity of the third individual at the residence was not released.
