A Lake Charles woman is facing second-degree murder charges because her six-month-old daughter died after she left the little girl in her car Sunday for hours. Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Stitch Guillory says it’s a very sad situation.
“And the baby was left in the car from 10:30 am until 3:30 PM,” Guillory says.
Guillory says the mother, 22-year-old Ivy Lee of Lake Charles, is charged with second-degree murder. He says this isn’t the first incident involving Lee and her children.
“In 2019 she had another kid that was taken away from her,” he says.
Guillory adds that family members have come forward with information about another instance where Lee left one of her children in the car.
“But it was not reported to law enforcement, so apparently this was a pretty common thing for her,” Guillory says.
