Louisiana Tech is preparing the college for takeoff with an aviation partnership with United Airlines. In addition to training aviation students, it also assists with career opportunities.
“It’s a direct access into their company by starting as a regional carrier with United, but also provide them professional mentorship and an opportunity to advance within their profession,” said Dean of the College of Liberal Arts Karl Puljak.
The partnership is a first of its kind for the university and Puljak said their aviation students will benefit immensely and be able to take flight with state-of-the-art technology.
“They will have access to flight simulators, and they will also have direct access to their training center in Denver, Colorado,” said Puljak.
There’s a great demand for qualified pilots and Puljak said the partnership helps United fill job vacancies and it also opens the door for students who are underrepresented in the industry.
“It’s a value that both Louisiana Tech and United Airlines are seeking to do,” said Puljak.
