Governor John Bel Edwards is flying to London Wednesday to lead a delegation of business and state leaders on an economic development mission. Governor’s spokesperson Shauna Sanford said Edwards is traveling with representatives from Louisiana Economic Development and the Louisiana Offshore Terminal to name a few.
“The governor’s going to be meeting with high-ranking executives from major energy companies, he’s also going to be talking with the world’s leading insurance underwriter about the current economic conditions,” said Sanford.
And how to diversify the state’s economy and the potential for future foreign direct investments in Louisiana.
Sanford said they’ll also meet with Lloyd’s of London and discuss the ongoing insurance issues many homeowners and businesses are experiencing in Louisiana after two devastating hurricane seasons.
“They’re going to be looking at legislative and regulatory changes that will really improve the state’s attractiveness to insurers and reinsurers,” said Sanford.
Also on the governor’s London agenda are meetings with oil and gas companies and clean energy companies. Sandford said there are meeting
“He’s going to meet with Shell, he’s also going to meet with Cheniere Energy. He’s going to be about LNG market changes and what they mean for Sabine Pass,” said Sanford.
The trip will conclude at Tottenham Stadium with the Saints-Vikings game in London on Sunday.
