LSU sets a new record in academic quality for its most accomplished freshman class in the university’s history. Assistant Vice President and Director of Admissions Daniel Barrow said the class has an all-time high median GPA of 3.78 and an ACT composite of 25.5.
“And it was an entire university-wide effort to bring in the best and brightest here in Louisiana and across the country and the world,” said Barrow.
The freshman class is made up of 67.5% Louisiana residents and 32.5% from out of state and one-third of the freshman class are first-generation college students.
Barrow said as a member of the SEC and other research powerhouses across the nation, it has elevated LSU’s preeminence.
“And when we have internally looked at the data between LSU and our SEC peers, in every metric we have led the way,” said Barrow.
In addition to breaking academic quality, Barrow says this year’s freshmen class enrollment of 7,367 surpasses last year’s record enrollment of 7,038.
“Talent attracts talent, so the previous year’s class absolutely was talented, and they helped us attract this talented class,” said Barrow.
And overall enrollment is at an all-time high of 37,354.
