Two women are facing charges of identity theft in Shreveport for allegedly stealing money from the accounts of USAA bank account holders.
Shreveport Police Department Sargent Angie Willhite says ZarRajah Watkins was arrested November 17th. Glass was arrested yesterday.
“We are up at over a million dollars in loss at this point. They were targeting all veterans and mostly senior citizen veterans,” Willhite said.
Willhite said Watkins is facing 175 charges of identity theft. She says Watkins used her job at Teleperformance, a call center in Shreveport, to access the bank accounts.
“She would take that information, and sell it to another lady and others. They would take money from those accounts in a number of ways that we’re not going to release right now,” Willhite said.
Willhite said Glass used her share of the money to buy a home, expensive cars, and other lavish items. Willhite says Glass is facing 65 counts of identity theft. She says multiple law enforcement agencies are participating in the investigation, which began in September, and is still underway, with more arrests expected.
“Preying on one of our weakest populations which are seniors, and our veterans, and right here before the holidays. It’s just egregious,” Willhite said.
She added the victims are located all over the country, but mostly in northwest Louisiana. She urges people with USAA accounts to check them for any suspicious activity.
