Five soldiers stationed at Ft. Polk are in the Vernon Parish Jail today, charged with raping two women in Rosepine on November 25th. Sheriff Sam Craft says the women knew one of the soldiers, and that all five of them gave the two spiked alcohol. He says once the women were incapacitated the men raped them.
“We don’t see much of this here, fortunately, and certainly not to the magnitude with the number of suspects. So it is kind of the classic date rape type scenario,” Craft said.
The sheriff described the women as very credible witnesses and says they sought medical help the morning after the attacks.
“Early the next morning they went straight to the hospital because they knew something had transpired,” he said
Craft said forensic evidence collected at the hospital confirmed the assaults. He said there is also video evidence. Craft said sheriff’s office investigators have received help from the Army’s Criminal Investigation Division.
“We are very familiar in working with Ft. Polk authorities so CID was hands-on early on in lending their assistance to us,” Craft said.
Craft said Fort Polk officials helped them interview the men and obtain their identities. Those charged are:
John Paul Bianzon, age 29, of Fort Polk, charged with one count of Criminal Conspiracy and one count of First Degree Rape.
Franzrobert T. Camentil, age 20, of Fort Polk, charged with two counts of Criminal Conspiracy and one count of First Degree Rape.
