Congressman Troy Carter (D) Louisiana's 2nd Congressional District
Congressman Troy Carter has been elected to Regional Whip by the Democratic Caucus. The Region includes Louisiana, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Carter says he wants more focus on a multitude of issues critical to the region like…
“Environmental issues that relates to clean air and clean water, making sure that we have adequate resources for our coat line and coastal recreation and infrastructure,” said Carter.
Education, health care, and new funding mechanisms are all issues Carter will be discussing as well.
Last night the House approved the National Defense Authorization Act and Carter says there’s funding included in the act that will directly impact Louisiana.
“Resources for the Army Corp of Engineers water management project, we have funding for the National Guard Training Center, we have Iberville regional center 1.65 million dollars, and 100 thousand dollars for waist infrastructure in Orleans parish,” said Carter .
Carter’s Democratic leadership position for the 118th Congress in January along with key roles Republican members of Louisiana’s congressional delegation will play, Carter says the state is in good hands.
“With Steve Scalise being the number two in charge on the Republican side and now me having the Democratic side it puts Louisiana in a good place,” said Carter.
